Landman versus Reality: A Real Look at Oil, Power & Property in Texas
Q: What advice would you give people for how to tell the difference between a legitimate real deal versus a scam in the oil industry?
Reach out to trusted sources in the energy industry or an oil and gas attorney to vet the legitimacy of a prospect.

Q: Has the legal landscape changed at all due to the push toward renewable energy sources?
Our practice focuses mostly on landowner representation, and while we've seen some solar leases and other alternative energies, it hasn't cut into our traditional oil and gas practice at all.
Landman versus Reality: A Real Look at Oil, Power & Property in Texas
Q: What statutes and regulations govern oil and gas attorneys?
It will mostly be the Texas Natural Resources Code, with guidance from over a century of common law surrounding oil and gas and mineral law.
Landman versus Reality: A Real Look at Oil, Power & Property in Texas
Q: On a scale of one to 10, how true to life is Landman if somebody's watching it?
I'd give it probably a six.
Landman versus Reality: A Real Look at Oil, Power & Property in Texas
Q: How would you best describe the show Landman?
It seems to be Taylor Sheridan's take on what the oil and gas industry looks like out in West Texas, although overly dramatized.
