  • Short and Sweet

Right to the point. Avoids the fluff in a lot of other podcasts.

  • Interesting and Insightful

Enjoyed listening to the podcasts that cover the macroeconomic view and well as more granular views on FX. Keeps me informed of the market and the bank's outlook at my convenience. Speakers are easy on the ears, avoid unnecessary technical jargon and make listening enjoyable.

Given my short attention span I preferred the crisper 3 minute Podcasts (like FX) to the longer 10-12 minute versions (like GMO) :)

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Through the Noise: Positioning post the Fed
Q: How does weak economic data from China impact your view on Chinese equities?
Raymond notes the weakness in China's growth momentum but suggests overweighing on China equities in growth areas supported by innovation and government policies.
Through the Noise: Positioning post the Fed
Q: Is the US dollar likely to weaken after the Fed?
Raymond explains that rate cuts reduce the yield advantage of US dollar-denominated assets, raising risks of capital outflows, but the Euro is showing signs of resilience.
Through the Noise: Positioning post the Fed
Q: Are bond yields now attractive in context of the Fed rate cut?
Raymond states that they expect a near-term rebound in US government bond yields but advises profit on long maturity bonds and balancing with 5-7-year maturity exposures.
Through the Noise: Positioning post the Fed
Q: What are your top takeaways from Fed Chair Powell's comments and indeed the dot plot?
Raymond points out the shift in the Fed's focus away from inflation to support the US job market, marking a risk management approach in this rate cut.
Through the Noise: How much will the Fed cut?
Q: Do you think there's a scenario that the FED may give us some surprise? And what are the implications for the market?
If the FED were to cut by 50 basis points but framed it as a proactive move, it could have a positive impact, but the communication about the path forward matters just as much as the size of the cut.
