Right to the point. Avoids the fluff in a lot of other podcasts.

  • Interesting and Insightful

Enjoyed listening to the podcasts that cover the macroeconomic view and well as more granular views on FX. Keeps me informed of the market and the bank's outlook at my convenience. Speakers are easy on the ears, avoid unnecessary technical jargon and make listening enjoyable.

Given my short attention span I preferred the crisper 3 minute Podcasts (like FX) to the longer 10-12 minute versions (like GMO) :)

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Through the noise: Inching towards a stalemate
Q: What is the high moat strategy and where should investors look for high moats?
The high moat approach centers on high-quality companies with durable competitive advantages, particularly in the technology and utility sectors, offering robust margins and earnings, which tend to outperform in uncertain times.
Through the Noise: Getting closer, but not all clear
Q: What are your thoughts on Asia ex-Japan equities given the Middle East conflict and China tech earnings?
AXJ earnings remain solid with Taiwan leading growth due to semiconductors and AI-related capex; China tech shows AI investment with near-term margin pressure but long-term monetization is anticipated to materialize, supporting a constructive view on Hang Seng Tech as valuations improve.
Through the Noise: Getting closer, but not all clear
Q: How do you stay invested, diversify or selectively take opportunities when volatility is driven by oil, policy repricing and risk sentiment?
The prudent approach is to stay invested in a well-diversified portfolio while selectively capitalizing on dislocations from volatility, including averaging into bonds (especially five- to seven-year durations) and using inflation hedges like TIPS; this also includes considering exposure to gold as liquidity and risk sentiment support develops.
Through the Noise Special : Investing in “Global Tech”
Q: First of all, before we start, can you just give us a quick overview of what we're talking about when we're discussing the technology sector?
Tech includes semiconductors, hardware, software, and IT services, but over time has expanded to include internet-enabled and consumer-facing platforms, fintech, and digital media—now representing a large portion of global equities. We approach it with three buckets (structural, cyclical, binary) to balance long-term growth with tactical opportunities.
InvesTips : Redefining wealth through health and wellness
Q: Can you walk us through what a holistic wealth approach involves?
It involves integrating financial plans with health and wellness habits, including healthcare cost planning, insurance, preventive care, and a wellness-oriented lifestyle, so that financial decisions align with physical and emotional well-being.
