  • Interesting and Insightful

Enjoyed listening to the podcasts that cover the macroeconomic view and well as more granular views on FX. Keeps me informed of the market and the bank's outlook at my convenience. Speakers are easy on the ears, avoid unnecessary technical jargon and make listening enjoyable.

Given my short attention span I preferred the crisper 3 minute Podcasts (like FX) to the longer 10-12 minute versions (like GMO) :)

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Through the Noise: Full circle
Q: What are the expected drivers of the next rally if a truce holds?
Strong US earnings, robust bank performance, and a favorable macro backdrop are expected to drive the next leg of the rally, with technology and AI-related growth supporting equity momentum.
Through the Noise: Full circle
Q: What lessons should investors draw from this geopolitical risk episode?
Investors should stay invested through crises as long as fundamentals remain intact, monitor negotiations for potential energy supply restarts, and focus on sectors with structural growth like technology and utilities that can benefit from demand and policy support.
Through the noise: Navigating the Ceasefire
Q: How does the RBI's decision and the Middle East conflict affect your outlook for Indian equities?
Indian equities offer attractive risk-reward supported by robust growth and earnings expectations, with the RBI maintaining a growth-friendly stance, inflation within tolerance, and expectations for a positive impact from the US-India trade deal and a growth-focused budget; this supports a resilient and attractive market in 2026.
Through the noise: Navigating the Ceasefire
Q: Could you explain some recent AI developments and how they support your bullish view on the technology sector, particularly around semiconductors?
Three points stand out: monetization of AI models is accelerating with record revenue in major AI firms; new models are rapidly improving performance; and GPU pricing has surged as demand for AI computations increases, all underpinning strong tech and semiconductor demand.
Through the noise: Navigating the Ceasefire
Q: Hi, Fook Hien. As the title on your weekly market view is Navigating the Ceasefire, can you share your thoughts about how the situation is now and how should investors position themselves?
The ceasefire aligns with our base case of a four- to six-week period, potentially limiting damage from high oil prices to growth and inflation. Investors should favor diversified portfolios with downside hedges like inflation-linked bonds and look for opportunities in EM and high-yield bonds, while keeping a positive bias on equities if the ceasefire proves durable.
