  • An awesome person

Pete is a thoughtful, intelligent and honest intellectual. He is fair and opened eyed and left of center. He feels like a brother who I love to listen to and I’m glad he’s out there. He calls himself a stoic and a Buddhist. It seems that it is working well for him.

  • The Best Way to Keep Up

I have been listening to Pete Dominick for well over a decade. His shows have always revolved around one principal theme, and that is different than every other host that I am aware of. He doesn’t pretend to know anything about anything. He keeps a stable of unbelievably qualified guests that offer their professional opinions on topics in which they are experts. It is so refreshing to have someone say they are learning along with you. Also using humor to absorb the onslaught of news is the only ... more

  • The most educated guests on the topics that affect us all.

One of the best episodes - Hotez & Mann talk about their book “science under siege” and all they went through during the pandemic and doing what’s right for people continuously throughout their career. To have the Dunning Kruger morons attacking them is beyond frustrating and super insulting. Great interview as usual!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

1613 Prof Jeff Jarvis and today's headlines
Q: What are your thoughts on the current state of AI and the IPO rush among big tech companies?
They see a broad skepticism about AI's societal impact, concern over data-center footprint, and worry about tech elites controlling the future; while acknowledging some value in AI, they critique the hype and fear-driven narratives that could distort policy and public trust.
1613 Prof Jeff Jarvis and today's headlines
Q: What did you think about the CBS News situation and the decision-makers at 60 Minutes?
The host and Jarvis agree that CBS is in trouble, with leadership changes and a focus on branding over journalism, suggesting the network lost its direction and credibility; staying inside the system might allow insiders to report on it, but the overall trajectory seems bleak without a reset.
1605 David Rothkopf , me on Aussie Today Show + News & Clips
Q: Tell me what happened in the trip to China and why it was important, and how it seemed like nothing got done?
Rothkopf explains that the trip produced zilch in deliverables; Xi Jinping looked stronger and America weaker, with no big signing ceremonies or breakthroughs, undermining the visit's purpose and signaling a strategic setback for the U.S.
Dr Andrea Jones- Rooy + News & Clips
Q: Is democracy trending toward autocracy or towards stronger democratic norms based on the data you study?
The discussion highlights that democracy is waning globally and in the US, but the trajectory is complex; it depends on measuring factors like free elections, press independence, and citizen participation, with a clear caution against relying on simplistic, binary views.
1604 Michael Ian Black is back ! + News & Clips
Q: How do you approach engaging with people who hold opposing views, especially online?
Engaging in good-faith dialogue can be valuable, even if it leads to disagreements, and it can help broaden understanding rather than just shouting on social media.
