  • Very well done

I certainly have enjoyed listening to Southern mysteries podcasts! Living in the Southeast, I can easily relate to the people in places in these stories. Shannon Ballard speaks slowly, clearly and annunciates her words perfectly! I also like that in the ones I have listened to, the victims are given respect and dignity, no matter their place in life.

  • Feels as Though it has an Overall Negative Tone.

While the theme of the podcast is true crime, which—admittedly—isn’t always heartwarming, the pod feels more and more like the hostess seeking an opportunity to wax eloquent with Lisa Simpson Syndrome. Not every episode has to be a sociological dissertation. Not the goal of the show is to be “pro-southern,” but I don’t know that the host doesn’t simply dive into stereotypes about nearly all things Southern. It’s kinda hard to enjoy something when it feels

like you’re constantly being lectured by... more

This my new favorite podcast because the storytelling is exceptional, the host has a phenomenal podcast voice, and she does a great job of telling a complete story in a way that respects those involved. My gripe with other crime podcasts is when it has a lot of off-the-cuff commentary that takes away from the substance of the story, making it a spectacle to light-heartedly joke through, rather than sharing a historical event with care and dignity. Each episode is thought out, well-researched (c... more

  • Well told stories from southern history. The narrator tells them with an appropriate bit of humor or sadness. When I finish each episode, I can't wait for the next release!!
