  • Overall Review

The South of India is a chronically neglected arena of politics by Delhi centred newsroom; despite its political dynamic politics and complexity. This podcast remedies this lacunae; with both active commentary on ongoing political currents and longer form interviews with experts. Pooja Prasanna and Dhanya Rajendran have a great camaraderie and are immensely interesting to listen to.

  • Took me a while to figure out how to even rate and review on apple podcasts

Been listening to your podcast for years now on this platform, but everytime I thought of leaving a review and giving them ratings, I was just not able to find the place to review. Dont know why apple put in so much friction in doing a basic thing like leaving a review, but here I am finally. Thank you for your efforts.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Raavan arrests and policing dissent in Andhra Pradesh | South Central 83
Q: What is the purpose of invoking UAPA in Raavan's case, and is it justified by the content of his speeches?
The guests argue that UAPA is misused to chill free speech, and that the connection between the speech and violence is not clearly established, suggesting that many arrests are acts of political punishment rather than necessary law enforcement.
INDIA bloc’s drift towards BJP and how India perceives child abuse | South Central 84
Q: What is driving the realignment of opposition parties toward the BJP?
Analysts point to a mix of strategic calculation, fear of agency actions, potential access to development funds, and the perception that aligning with the BJP offers better political survival prospects, even if it means compromising longstanding alliances.
Why the RSS does not want to register| Rise of Hindutva Pop| South Central
Q: What are the implications of not registering for public events and marches?
Non-registration creates plausible deniability and makes it difficult to monitor activities conducted in public life, including funding and political lobbying tied to RSS affiliates.
Why the RSS does not want to register| Rise of Hindutva Pop| South Central
Q: Why is there pressure on the RSS to register as an organization?
Because registration would allow public scrutiny and formal audits of funds and activities, which RSS has resisted by arguing it operates as a voluntary body and challenging governmental overreach.
Is it time to do away with NEET?
Q: Mr. Peri, this is not the first time that we are seeing a leak, right? Do you think it's time for NEET to go?
The panelists discuss that NEET has not fulfilled its stated goals, with concerns about transparency, coaching-center influence, and repeated leaks, suggesting that the system should be reconsidered or substantially reformed rather than simply continued.
