  • Soothing for the current time we live in

A balm for the soul at this time. The people and guests on the show are bringing awareness to the global issues and those in our backyard. I am glad I fell into this while scrolling for peace. Was fed up of the American style which is more commercial and material. I needed to shed that and get back to simplicity. This podcast has restored my faith in humanity and the ability to find a path and guide forward. Well done ABC.

  • And all will be well...

Just listened to the fascinating and poignant episode about Julian of Norwich. Her famous words "and all will be well" resonated with me in these very tumultuous times. I agree that many of the systems in our societies force us to move too quickly -- there is little time to stop and breath, contemplate or think. So how on earth can we hope to change for the better?

I find comfort in Julian's famous words because, similar to looking up at a star lit sky on a quiet summer night, I see the beauty... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

No really, who is my neighbour?
Q: Like, so why are you a fan of the micro-space, the idea that the neighborhood matters more than the wider global context?
The micro-space is where real relationships form; it's where people can actually see and respond to each other, cultivate care, and negotiate conflicts in tangible ways.
No really, who is my neighbour?
Q: But why do you think that urban space and micro-spaces matter so much for neighborliness?
Because small, everyday interactions in local spaces—like greeting at the letterbox or sharing a lemon—build trust, social capital, and a sense of belonging that can sustain people during hard times.
No really, who is my neighbour?
Q: Hi, Karina. Now, this might sound a little obvious, but who would you say is my neighbour?
The idea is that a neighbor is not limited to the person next door but extends to anyone you encounter in need, expanding the circle through acts of hospitality, proximity, and mutual care.
The power of pure attention with Laurence Freeman
Q: What role does solitude and community play in contemplative practice?
Freeman discusses meditation creating a sense of community through shared practice, while solitude nourishes personal grounding, both essential for a functioning society.
The power of pure attention with Laurence Freeman
Q: How does contemplation relate to action in daily life?
He argues that contemplation enhances inner focus and equanimity, which then informs compassionate, effective action in the world rather than serving as escapism.
