  • Songs you know podcasts

Toby I’m so impressed with your new podcasts and looking forward to more.

First I’m interested in the writers and producers of music like Eg and Greg and their background without the filters of other writers and editors.

Secondly learning what makes you tick—is coming through—not that you’re different in public but frankly you’re consistent- and that’s important.

While I know your songs I didn’t know you and that’s the reason I picked up on this series—your work with Angelina Jordan is amazin... more

Why I Walked Away at the Peak of My Career | Ask Toby Anything Ep #2
Q: Have you ever had to fight for a song you believed in?
Yes, many times. Label politics, management interests, and decisions by other producers can push songs aside, but if you truly believe in a track you push back and persist through multiple pitches, sometimes even changing the route of a song to reach release.
Why I Walked Away at the Peak of My Career | Ask Toby Anything Ep #2
Q: What's something artists do in sessions that instantly kills creativity?
Overthinking and trying to emulate current chart trends; the best approach is to drop any pretense, get to the instruments, and improvise with the people in the room so you can uncover something authentic.
Why I Walked Away at the Peak of My Career | Ask Toby Anything Ep #2
Q: How did you get the love for music back after you stepped away from the demanding pace of your career?
I took time off, traveled with my family, and in that pause the pressure of the machine faded. When major artists started asking if I had time again, I started choosing projects more carefully and focused on doing work I truly wanted to make, which rekindled my joy in writing.
Michael Jackson called HIM | Neff -U #037
Q: What was it like touring and recording with him?
We traveled the world, built studios in houses, and collected unique sounds while aiming for melodies that felt unforgettable; he was energetic, demanding, and deeply focused on delivering music that could move people.
Michael Jackson called HIM | Neff -U #037
Q: How did you first meet Michael?
Michael heard about my work with Dre, called to connect, and I found myself in a studio moment that felt monumental, leading to a lasting musical relationship and a series of transformative collaborations.
