I used to like this podcast but nowadays most of the time it feels they don’t even play the games they talk about. It’s all about superficial hype and no meaningful discussions. Plus, they can be really negative towards indie developers that have poured their hearts into their work, and I find that very inconsiderate.
Slow Burn Podcast was tough to stick with. The hosts spend more time bragging about dev partnerships and free game keys than actually discussing cozy games. Payten repeatedly brings up her illness in a way that feels more like a plea for sympathy than genuine openness, and the trio often act as if they’re major creators when they really aren’t. If you want a cozy‑gaming podcast that’s warm, respectful, and actually focused on games, Tea With Honey is a far better choice.
The podcast flies by, thanks to the great chemistry of the three hosts.
I’ve been a listener from the beginning, and the hosts have great rapport with each other. I also enjoy them individually on their channels. Lately they don’t seem to be enjoying any of the games they talk about so I’m taking a break for a bit. I really love that they don’t pretend to like games they don’t, but I’m surprised everything seems to disappoint at least two of the hosts to the point that is isn’t fun to listen to.
Slowburn is one of the best cosy gaming podcasts you can find and listen to. You always can’t wait for the next episode. They even give game reviews and game even say what game they play.
