  • Good People, bad interviews

It doesn’t seem like the interviewer does any prep beforehand. He asks very boring questions with no insight into the problem that they’re solving. He brings great founders onto his podcast but doesn’t do justice to them in his interviews.

Also, awkward silences in between questions and monotone (no excitement) voice exacerbates it.

  • Slice of health care = best health care podcast

I am so happy I came across Slice of Health Care! I am currently an RN in a CVICU in Washington DC & am gearing up to start a 3 year DNP-CRNA program in Summer 2019. This podcast not only gets me excited to embark on my new journey, it also gives me insight to other healthcare professions. It is such a well-rounded platform for all kinds of health care workers (and those just interested in the medical world!). It gets me excited to do my job & further my career. I highly recommend!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#530 - Matt Seefeld, Chief Executive Officer at MedEvolve
Q: How do you define and pursue Zero Touch Claims in practice?
Zero touch is a horizon rather than an absolute, because payer-provider misalignment prevents complete elimination of human touches. The approach is to push toward zero touches by enabling better data, early detection of where touches occur, and automated handling where possible, while maintaining accountability and transparency to ensure financial outcomes stay positive.
#530 - Matt Seefeld, Chief Executive Officer at MedEvolve
Q: What was the moment you realized the real problem in revenue cycle went beyond strategy and leadership?
The realization came from examining the human side of the process and recognizing that many issues stem from unmeasured, avoidable touches. By capturing every human action on a claim and tying it to outcomes, it became clear that the bottlenecks were in the front-end experiences and data gaps, not just in strategy.
#528 - Aaron Sheedy, COO at Xealth
Q: What's the key takeaway for health systems considering a digital health strategy beyond their EHR?
The takeaway is that an effective digital health strategy requires a deliberate mix of internal capabilities and external vendors, with a focus on standard APIs and patient-centric workflows, rather than relying solely on the EHR as the strategy driver.
#528 - Aaron Sheedy, COO at Xealth
Q: What excites you about Samsung's role in healthcare at HIMSS?
Aaron explains Samsung's broad hardware ecosystem—from TVs to bedside tablets—to enable more integrated, data-driven care, including wearable-derived signals and the potential to deliver care insights directly into EHRs for better patient outcomes.
#528 - Aaron Sheedy, COO at Xealth
Q: Tell us about the HIMSS talk and what you hope attendees take away.
Aaron discusses the practical applications of Xealth in clinical workflow, patient education, and AI safety, emphasizing how health systems can deploy targeted digital health strategies that improve patient engagement and care coordination, with a focus on real-world flow rather than theoretical capabilities.
