Q: Are there some human factors that we can look at for the success or failure of some of these migratory efforts?

Human impacts include habitat loss and hunting. Turtle dove hunting was previously unsustainable, with up to a million birds shot annually in France, Spain and Portugal in the late 2010s. A moratorium and adaptive harvest management program have since introduced monitoring, limits and habitat measures.

Q: If there's one thing you'd like people to take away from the book, what would it be?

Kane says that human marks on a place do not make it bad. People should recognize value in landscapes shaped by human activity and in wild places that may not look conventionally beautiful.

Q: What do the Star Carr headdresses tell us about how early inhabitants of Britain related to the wild and wildness?

Kane says the headdresses may have been used in rituals to commune with another world and secure successful hunts and deer fertility. They reflect the community's dependence on the environment and attempts to influence it.

Q: What advice would you give to that influencer then in how they share that kit? How can they still get the kit on screen, show it to their audience, get more free stuff, maybe because that's what they want, but be responsible and do it?

Scotty suggests not following marketing briefs that push extreme-looking content, and instead sharing practical safety guidance, including recommending bright clothing or a bright pack cover for visibility.
