社會企業是從英國興起的企業型態，目前並無統一的定義，
簡單說明，社會企業就是一種追求三重盈餘──經濟、環境與社會，且永續經營的新商業模式。
透過企業提供的服務或產品，將企業賺的盈餘投資於所欲達成的社會目標或社區中，例如說解決街友問題、支持環境永續、友善土地等，企業促進這些存在已久的社會問題能被有效降低或解決，且不仰賴政府的補助或民間團體捐贈的金錢。
常聽見的社會企業有友善大地、鮮乳坊、里仁等，很多日常生活常見的品牌都是社會企業。

每個案例並沒有只擷取正向的一面給大家看，
而是將案例的開始、執行目的、使用者的訪查發現社會企業其實沒有大家所說的 "做"這麼好。
