Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 510: The Science Of Sexual Arousal
Q: Why is neuroscience important for understanding sex, and how can learning about it transform people's sex lives?
Neuroscience helps people see that arousal is not purely a choice or a sign of being broken; it's a brain-body process shaped by history, stimuli, and context. By understanding this, people can reduce shame, reframe their experiences, and approach sex with tools that foster safety and predictability, ultimately expanding the range of possibilities for pleasure.
Episode 510: The Science Of Sexual Arousal
Q: To get us started, can you tell us the brief story behind this book and what you hoped it would do for readers?
The book grew from my own pelvic pain experiences and my clinical work with clients. It became a step-by-step guide that teaches nervous system regulation, sexual science, and the arousal architecture so people can access authentic pleasure even if they can't or don't want to attend therapy. The aim is to give everyone a portable expert who helps them rewrite outdated sexual scripts and reclaim their pleasure.
Episode 508: When Your Sexuality Changes Later In Life
Q: How can someone talk to their partner about changes in their sexuality without destroying the relationship?
Honesty and timing matter; starting with acknowledging uncertainty, seeking therapy, and approaching conversations with compassion, while giving the partner space to adjust and respond.
Episode 508: When Your Sexuality Changes Later In Life
Q: What happened for you personally that illustrated the experience of sexuality changing later in life?
Jess describes realizing attraction to someone of a different gender during a sex therapy training, an experience previously unimaginable, which became a catalyst for exploring her own evolving sexuality.
Episode 512: Why Chastity Turns People On
Q: What's different about chastity as discussed in modern sexual culture compared to historical ideas?
Chastity today is not primarily about abstinence; it's broad and can include exploring desire, anticipation, and relational dynamics, with the practice often centered on positive self-control, body autonomy, and consent.
