  • Two separate podcasts

The medical panel discussions which examine and critique current medical issues is distinctly separate and very much a different experience than the poetic Friday Reflections by Adam Cifu. I would very much like to see them in separate podcast titles.

  • Objective interviews

I love how the speakers can disagree without being mad at one another! It’s refreshing. I’m not very knowledgeable about the specifics of research, but I get so much out of these discussions about research articles and how to interpret and apply it.

  • Much needed common sense discussions in medicine

Thank you for talking about medical issues and topics, areas of concern in a practical, no nonsense manner. Every physician who contributes here doesn’t seem to be in it for themselves and to get the “likes”. It’s such a breath of fresh air to hear you all discuss passionately about the wacky stuff that’s going on in science (especially in America) and not be afraid to call out and question inaccurate or fishy studies/ health care policies/practices. Not sure if it’s the degradation of our cultu... more

  • Very Interesting!

I’m not a medical doctor, but I still get a lot out of the weekly panels. I wish all news coverage of medicine was as balanced and nuanced as it is on this podcast. Keep up the good work!

  • Great discussions

This podcast reminds us all the there are no rules in medicine, but there are principles and there is more nuance than one imagines. Worth listening for every clinician.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ask Us Anything
Q: Considering rare cancers or other rare conditions, how do we make progress with only a few patients available for study?
Randomized control trials are possible for rare tumors, and the biggest barrier is often not the rarity itself but rather the willingness of institutions to collaborate and share data.
Ask Us Anything
Q: Is the process to predict the season's flu strains still good?
The effectiveness of the annual flu vaccine is variable, and the current method of selection has some flaws, as indicated by recent studies comparing vaccinated and unvaccinated healthcare workers.
Ask Us Anything
Q: Is there a risk with flying for patients with high asymptomatic VES burden?
I don't know of any specific studies on the effects of flying on ventricular ectopy, but factors like stress could potentially affect arrhythmias.
Vinay at FDA; what's next for Sensible Medicine; ask us anything answers
Q: Please discuss healthcare team burnout and moral injury, also the cost of medical school.
Medical school is very expensive and can deter people from going into necessary fields, while burnout is often caused by the loss of professionalism in healthcare.
Adam Cifu Interviewed by Michael Easter on the TWO/PERCENT Substack and Podcast
Q: What are some examples that you think we need a little more medical conservatism today?
We need to be cautious with screenings like prostate cancer and diabetes, ensuring that patients understand risks and benefits.
