  • 😁. Just 😁. ‘Nuff said!

One of the most enjoyable podcasts I’ve listened to! Informative but also fun and silly, and Steven’s laid-back style makes you feel like you’re just hanging out with a friend, chatting about cool stuff, and not wanting it to end! It makes me glad I only just discovered this, since it means I have quite a while before I’m all caught up and have to wait impatiently for the next episode! 😁

Q: What is Miss, and how has it evolved since its inception?
Miss started as a nonprofit focused on making shark science more accessible for gender minorities of color, with pillars in professional development, education/outreach, and collaborative research, growing through member programs and partnerships.
Park Experts 212 - Piri (Girl in Stem)
Q: What made you want to pursue a chemistry degree out of all the science?
The moment I fell in love with organic chemistry during GCSEs and A-levels, inspired by a wonderful teacher who made the subject feel meaningful and interconnected with the real world, cemented my path toward chemistry before music took over.
Park Experts 212 - Piri (Girl in Stem)
Q: I've asked this to scientists when they've been on the pod, but do you remember your first exposure to science growing up as a kid?
It was a vivid memory of a science lesson in year five about water wheels that hooked me on science, followed by a lifelong passion shaped by curiosity and a positive school experience.
Park Experts 209 - Dr. Dean R. Lomax (The Secret Lives of Dinosaurs)
Q: What inspired you to write The Secret Lives of Dinosaurs?
The book grew from a long-standing interest in how behavior can be inferred from fossils and how modern analogs can illuminate what we can't directly observe in the fossil record. It evolved from earlier work on Locked in Time and grew into a broader project to tell the story of prehistoric life with evidence-based storytelling and vivid reconstructions.
