While a lot of the information so far retreads the same fundamental story as the original reporting by The Observer/Tortoise Media, Secrets of the Salt Path does bring something new to the retelling. It centres Wales, a place so fundamental to the Walker’s origins that it’s a shame it was missed the first time around.
It’s a fascinating story, and I’m not sorry to have a new telling with Welsh frame.
This is very well made, and gives a local slant on events. National media loses some of the nuances of this story.
Don’t bother. It’s just an unabashed straight rip-off of the observer investigation. This is how the bbc is spending your TVLicence. And spending the extra money it takes from you to pay for the free loaders. They rip-off other media outlets. Classy.
This feels like a repeat of the recent Observer / Tortoise podcast. I don’t know how these things get commissioned at the BBC but surely there’s a check for originality at some point in the process?
I’m on my 3rd listen!
