  • I LITERALLY LOVE THIS SHOW!!!

This show is a great listen and it’s always fun listening to you guys, although I jumped on the podcast pretty late.

I keep your advice in mind about making a comic you enjoy making with an entertaining cast of characters because I’ve always taken my work a bit too seriously and keep forgetting why I made it in the first place.

Thanks for making a podcast in the first place. I wish it was visual too!

Buffers
Q: What do you do if you've lost your buffer?
It's hard. A lot of planning helps with the way that I work with space, because we're able to gauge the length and the work required to pull off the stories that we want to do.
Beginnings
Q: What are your favorite examples from your work or others of engaging beginning techniques?
Engaging beginnings can take many forms, from beautiful art to intriguing characters, that create a hook for the reader.
Beginnings
Q: What is your advice to someone who is trying to write or rewrite an engaging beginning?
Consider what you want your readers to care about, and ensure your opening draws in the readers you want whilst pushing away those you don't want.
Sticking with One Idea
Q: What is your advice to someone who has trouble picking an idea and sticking with that idea?
Just embrace stewing a little bit more. Chase your ideas, but don't start a new webcomic every other Tuesday. Keep your shiny new ideas but learn to see if they fit into what you're currently working on.
Themes
Q: What advice do you have for someone who's stuck on figuring out what the theme of their story is?
Reflect on the stories or media you enjoy to discover what themes resonate with you, and consider analyzing other works to learn how themes are developed and expressed.
