Who's Got Your Vote: Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney
Q: What does the Commonwealth's Attorney do in practice, and how do you view the office's role in public safety?
The CA voices the victim, balances rights, and increasingly focuses on preventing crime by addressing underlying issues and expanding diversion programs.
What's Next for Henrico County?
Q: Welcome John. How has Henrico's development strategy evolved in the face of changing economic conditions?
John explains that Henrico has pursued a conservative, revenue-conscious approach, budgeting only a portion of expected revenue, maintaining buffers for downturns, and defending taxpayers by enforcing strong protections in development agreements while planning for future arena decisions through alternate channels and RFI processes.
Virginia’s Energy Future
Q: Are the 2045 carbon-free goals realistic, given current knowledge and technology?
The company aims for net-zero carbon by 2045 and believes the combination of wind, solar, gas, and potentially fusion or modular reactors can get us to about 80% of that goal; achieving the rest will depend on advances in technology, cost, and scalable financing models.
Virginia’s Energy Future
Q: What does infrastructure mean for Dominion, and what kinds of projects are you prioritizing?
Infrastructure means building generation, transmission, and distribution networks to support growing load, with emphasis on reliability, scalability, and modernizing the grid to handle both current demand and future technologies like offshore wind, nuclear options, and storage.
Virginia’s Energy Future
Q: So Bob, how has Virginia's energy demand changed over the last 10 or 20 years?
Virginia's demand growth has not been rapid due to improved energy efficiency, but we expect a rebound as electrification accelerates, driven by population growth, more electrified economy, electric vehicles, and especially data centers that consume large amounts of electricity.
