I was concerned when Retro Encounter changed hosts recently, but as much as I love Sollosi, I think the show is even better nowadays, with more voices at the forefront and a slightly more thematic approach. I miss some of the fun of the old Retro, but regardless, this is still a great listen for all fans of retro RPGs.
I appreciate everything y’all do on Retro Encounter! The variety of coverage is excellent. I listen to all the episodes, even for games and sub genres I don’t play. Though I don’t have friends to talk about RPGs with, I am grateful for the chance to listen to well-versed folks conversing in depth about these games.
I wish these COWARDS would play another game from the trails(kiseki) series but no they’ll play day of the tentacle which ISNT EVEN AN RPG guess I have no choice but to hate-listen to every episode.
I was very pleased with the depth of thought and interesting takes that went into this episode. Very impressed and happy I found this show. Now following and looking forward to more!
Congrats you all stink

Episodes cover design choices, storytelling, game systems, and the cultural impact of well-loved titles, often weighing the pros and cons of bold artistic directions, pacing, and world-building. The format benefits listeners who enjoy thoughtful critique, diverse viewpoints, and a mix of nostalgia with modern perspectives, though some episodes note audio quality or guest dynamics as potential drawbacks.
