  • Excellent and Edifying Discussion

Technology has come a long way in the 22 years since I’ve graduated from Mid-America Reformed Seminary. But one thing stays the same. This seminary has excellent faculty who are careful and biblical in their theological discussions. I am obviously biased because I was educated there, but I believe Mid-America Reformed Seminary should be one of the first seminaries to consider a theological education. Listen to a few of these excellent podcasts and you will see why. I’m so happy I can keep up wit... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

310. The Theologian Who Won't Go and the Missionary Who Doesn't Know
Q: Why is doctrinal minimalism at odds with effective evangelism according to the guest?
Doctrinal minimalism fails to address the complexity of worldview conflicts and can undermine long-term discipleship and church formation, whereas a robust doctrinal framework guides faithful witness and sustainable mission.
310. The Theologian Who Won't Go and the Missionary Who Doesn't Know
Q: What does Romans teach us about the relationship between theology and mission?
Romans provides a comprehensive theological foundation that equips the church for mission by addressing worldviews, cultural conflicts, and the needs of unreached peoples, showing that sound doctrine enables effective outreach.
309. Why Paul Wrote His Longest Letter to a Church He'd Never Met
Q: So what exactly did the Romans not know or misunderstand about Paul's message and why did that matter for the mission that he was planning?
Mininger explains that Romans faced misperceptions about Paul's gospel and ministry, which could hinder their willingness to support a mission to Spain; the letter sets the record straight by clarifying Paul's message, his apostolic authority, and the universality of the gospel.
307. The Spiritual Formation of Elders
Q: What role does spiritual formation play in elders' lives?
Elders must pursue authentic faith and transformation themselves, addressing inner sins and temptations to maintain credibility and avoid performative shepherding.
307. The Spiritual Formation of Elders
Q: How can elders with full-time jobs and families manage this calling without burning out?
Elders should share responsibilities, avoid isolation, and organize care through a team approach so work is distributed, nimble, and rooted in knowing the people they serve.
