  • Excellent context and analysis

Surprisingly and delighted to have found this; a growing resource exploring the unwinding ( and rewinding ) of the imperial era from the heady independence period of post WW2 and Cold War.

Aligned / non-aligned. : 1st, 2nd, 3rd world ; developed and developing world; the West and the global south: colonialism and neo-colonialism.

A deep dive into the history that affects us all today.

    Highly recommend.

Imperialism, Debt, and International Finance with Ndongo Samba Sylla and Farwa Sial
Q: Could you lay out for listeners in broad strokes, what are the most important ways that the current structure of international trade and finance works to uphold imperialism and to keep Global South countries trapped in a state of underdevelopment and dependency?
The current structure operates through a system of key currencies where countries are obligated to accumulate certain currencies like the US dollar for transactions, enabling a division where surplus countries benefit at the expense of deficit countries in the Global South, resulting in an unequal exchange of resources.
