  • Excellent

Love these conversational interviews with great authors. Came to this podcast late but am happy to have a big library of episodes to catch up with now. Jenna is very personable and you can feel her excitement to bring these authors to her audience. The episode with Judy Blume was excellent, as a devoted Judy Blume fan I loved hearing directly from Judy and I felt like she and Jenna had a bond. I could hear Jenna’s love and enthusiasm and it made me feel happy

  • Late to the Show

Diversifying my pods - less worldly dismal news, more this! What a welcome addition! Happy to discover that I read some of these books, which made me feel great : ) Was most surprised by the Yarros interview - I was vehemently against anything romance/fantasy, etc. I won’t read it, but hearing her story was fascinating. … and that’s the whole point - broaden your horizons and be nice!

Talking Points

Hoda Kotb on Life After TODAY, Embracing New Beginnings, and New Book ‘Jump and Find Joy’ (September 2025)
Q: What advice would you give someone contemplating a big life jump?
Picture the other side, imagine the feelings you want to have, and gather trusted people to support you; jumping should be purposeful, not reckless.
Hoda Kotb on Life After TODAY, Embracing New Beginnings, and New Book ‘Jump and Find Joy’ (September 2025)
Q: Why did you decide to leave your previous role and start a new venture focused on joy?
The move came from a desire to create a life aligned with intention and to help others find joy in everyday moments, not just professional success, which led to Joy101 and related experiences.
Hoda Kotb on Life After TODAY, Embracing New Beginnings, and New Book ‘Jump and Find Joy’ (September 2025)
Q: What brings you joy now?
Conversations with my kids and truly knowing them, plus the day‑to‑day moments of slowing down and connecting, have become the deepest sources of joy.
Jenny Jackson on 'The Shampoo Effect,' Friendship & Why Great Books Make Us Uncomfortable
Q: In Shampoo Effect, Caroline is tempted to transform the lives of her friends into fiction. As both an editor and a novelist, where do you draw the line?
The line is gray and moves; if I recognize something borrowed from someone's life, I show them an early copy and ask how they feel. If they're unhappy, I change or remove it. I also disguise or alter details to protect real people when needed.
How Remarkably Bright Creatures Became a Netflix Movie
Q: What was one thing in the film adaptation that surprised you that you never intended to have in the book, but felt it encompassed what you intended when you first wrote the book?
A favorite scene not originally in the book became a standout in the film, where Cameron goes to an open mic and performs a Radiohead song, signaling his deeper emotional arc that complements the octopus-driven themes.
