  • Seriously good stuff!

Driving home at night from weddings or gigs I use these podcasts to help me get home safely and to keep me entertained along the way. I love the banter, the fact that they are gear heads and know their stuff. They have been responsible for my purchase of a Sony A7iii which I had not been considering up until listening to them waffling about it. Keep it up boys!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Raw Podcast - EP58 - A conversation with John Boaz
Q: How did you get started in photography and what drew you to the field?
He describes an early love for adventure and light during a youth in which he photographed deer with a friend's camera, followed by formal study in photography at college and immersive projects in Nepal and monastic communities that shaped his storytelling focus.
Raw Podcast - EP56 - A conversation with Kevin Kheffache
Q: How did Kevin get into photography and what led to DocDay?
Kevin describes moving from banking and running a language school into photography, starting with Annie and evolving into documentary wedding photography. DocDay started informally after a photography meet-up, evolved through connections with Alan Law and This Is Repertage, and grew into a full conference.
Raw Podcast - EP51 - A conversation with Paul Williams
Q: What role does gear play in your day-to-day work and how do you manage multiple systems?
I use a backbone of Leica bodies (Q3, Q3 43, M10P) with a Nikon F100 for fast action moments. I prefer a hybrid approach, shooting film for texture and mood and digital for immediacy. The workflow includes lab coordination, film scanning, and a careful selection of lenses and bodies to minimize gear fatigue while maximizing creative options on the day.
Raw Podcast - EP51 - A conversation with Paul Williams
Q: How did branding influence your career trajectory?
Branding evolved from an initial look that used a recognizable but generic typeface to a much more distinct, cohesive identity. I partnered with branding professionals, refined my color palette and editing style, and aligned my website, social presence, and client communications so that when people encounter my work they instantly recognize my approach and values.
Raw Podcast - EP47 - A conversation with Darren Kirwan
Q: How do personal projects influence your work?
Darren mentioned that he is currently working on a personal project involving interviewing family members to preserve memories.
