  • Rainers bilk Christians

Just another Rainer family money-grab to keep the Rainer kids flush with cash donations from poor Southern retirees. Tom, you are bright but have failed to help the Church with its #1 most obvious problem--and Tom won't even say the name because he knows it's the cancer invading our congregations. Speak truth or the Church will continue to shrink 5%+ every year.

  • More than leadership

Thom and Sam have been around and pretty much seen it all in church ministry. Allow them to help you avoid pitfalls, and elevate your goals, for God’s glory. There is a larger mine of resources from the Church Answers website. We need it!

  • Becoming more of an infomercial

Have been listening to this podcast for a while and really enjoyed it at the beginning, but the longer it goes, the more I feel like I’m listening to an infomercial and them promote their sponsors

  • Helpful topics…

My ministry has benefited greatly from these podcasts. The topics are quite helpful- many “real life” kind of scenarios…things I really face (or might face in the future). This is a great equipping resource. And as for personal preference, the length is perfect. I enjoy the bullet points kind out outline with a conversational tone. This makes this podcast very easy to listen to for me. I don’t miss very many episodes. Thanks guys!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Unique Church Leadership Lessons from the Book of Ezra You Haven’t Heard
Q: What are the Three Decrees and why are they important for today's church?
The three decrees—Cyrus, Artaxerxes, and Darius—offer a framework for phases of rebuilding: initial calling and return, facing opposition and partial pause, and a final, strengthened redeclaration that secures ongoing support and resources, illustrating a path from vision to sustainable impact.
Unique Church Leadership Lessons from the Book of Ezra You Haven’t Heard
Q: Why focus on the book of Ezra rather than Nehemiah?
Ezra provides a narrative about returning, rebuilding, and re-centering on God's word, which offers a clearer pattern for leadership and church revival than Nehemiah's wall-building emphasis, especially for guiding current ministry strategies.
The Burge Report: Why the 1990s Were the Most Consequential in Modern U.S. Religious History
Q: What role did megachurches play in shaping religious life in the 1990s and beyond?
Megachurches became central because economies of scale and modern communications made large, professional congregations viable and attractive, especially to baby boomers; this shifted church models and created both opportunities and challenges for church governance, ministry, and community engagement.
The Burge Report: Why the 1990s Were the Most Consequential in Modern U.S. Religious History
Q: Why was the 1990s such a consequential decade for religion in the United States?
Because it was a confluence of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the rise of a more caustic political environment, the rapid growth of evangelical megachurches, and a transformation of the information landscape by the Internet, all leading to a surge of religious change and new challenges for ministry.
Dodging Detours: Five Ways a Feasibility Study Protects Your Campaign from Pitfalls
Q: What does a successful campaign look like after a good pre-campaign assessment?
A successful campaign leads to a high likelihood of meeting goals, unified support around vision, mobilized non-givers to participate, and growth in both the campaign funds and the church's general budget.
