Quite A Boast - Episode 29 - Ben Addison
Q: What were the main challenges in getting a record deal for Corduroy, and how did that affect the band's momentum?
They faced limited label infrastructure, shifting budgets, and artistic differences that hindered progress; despite some TV spots and a dedicated fanbase, commercial success remained elusive and the band ultimately split before finding a stable path again through later projects.
Quite A Boast - Episode 29 - Ben Addison
Q: How did the band approach image and fashion in the 80s to stand out from other acts?
The duo deliberately blended street youth culture with flamboyant 80s fashion—romantic Edwardian touches, Teddy Boy influences, and colorful stage gear—to avoid looking like typical musicians and create a memorable presence.
Quite A Boast - Episode 29 - Ben Addison
Q: What was the catalyst behind reviving Boys Wonder and starting Corduroy after the 80s run?
Ben Addison explains that changes in the music landscape, plus existing friendships and timing, allowed them to regroup with new energy and explore different sounds while leveraging the connections they had built in London.
