  • Great reading companion

I’m reading through the Discworld books along with a Facebook group (Discworld Reading Group), and every time I finish a book I run to this podcast to find the episode about that book. I love the insights, and the humor, and the general love for all things Pratchett that the hosts and guests all show!

  • What’s not to love about this Pratchat?!?

I have recently discovered this amazing podcast; however my love of Terry Pratchett stretches back longer than I am prepared to admit without disclosing my age! I went looking for a Pratchett podcast because I will be partaking of an opportunity in the near future where the Discworld will be a large focus. The Pratchats I have listened to so far are only going to add to my knowledge. I do have one bone to pick though and that that is with Liz’s pronunciation of the Patrician’s name! It is Vet-in... more

  • Most comprehensive

The clue is in the name: this cast provides chat on all things Sir Terry Pratchett related. It isn’t confined to Discworld, but discusses all areas of his output, and the wider fandom. That encompasses all his published works, games, and other merchandise.

  • A pleasure to hang out

I love Pratchett books and love listening to chat about the books. I’ve tried a few similar podcasts and Pratchat is the one I keep coming back to. A pleasure to listen, a reminder to go back to books I’ve loved and an encouragement to try new ones. Thanks Ben and Liz.

  • Pull the other one, it has got puns on.

Pratchett changed my life when I was reading his books for the first time, and Pratchat is kind enough to bring all those good feelings back to me. Just fantastic discussions, a good, normally calm flow and guests with a great range of both life experiences and takes on Pratchett. Thank you Ben and Liz.

We Can Reference It For You Wholesale (The Discworld Companion)
Q: Was there something that is not in this book that you think should be in this book?
I think there's some entries that I thought I'd like to be longer because... It would be great if it were longer and had more resources hemorrhaged into it.
They’re All Good Dragons, Bront (Designing Terry Pratchett’s Discworld)
Q: Out of the hints at books Terry never got to write, which is your favourite concept?
Cabswell, the story about a guy granting wishes in wells, definitely piques my interest.
They’re All Good Dragons, Bront (Designing Terry Pratchett’s Discworld)
Q: Was there any tidbit about Paul Kidby's process that you found incredibly fascinating?
His commitment to analog techniques, such as working from drawings and then applying paint, really impressed me.
They’re All Good Dragons, Bront (Designing Terry Pratchett’s Discworld)
Q: What is your favourite piece of parody artwork in the book?
The Night Watch parody stands out as an homage that resonates with me due to its affectionate connection to the source material.
Browsing Ben’s Bookshelf (bonus books)
Q: What Pratchett book means the most to you?
A copy of Small Gods, as it's sentimental due to its associations with early book collecting and is signed by Pratchett.
