  • Great podcasts — but you need to indicate record date

So the recording date of these recent pods (demographics, partisanship, etc) absolutely are not when these great interviews were recorded — which is SO weird and not great. If these are previously published pods being replayed, that’s fine but they need to be marked as such (like Lawfare does) and, I’d suggest an intro/outro that does some sort of framing and/or a reflection on the pod in relationship to what’s up now.

The conversation about how our politics is strained by a group of people who not only peddle dangerous conspiracies that have no theory behind them – unlike your classic conspiracy theories about Area 51 and the moon landing – but also use conspiracies to delegitimize their politic... more

What’s Wrong with Political Parties?
Q: What are the takeaways?
The major takeaway is that politics is too nationalized and professionalized, and that reviving state and local party infrastructure, improving representation and governance, and rethinking the balance between internal democracy and centralization could strengthen democracy and trust.
Is the American Dream Dead?
Q: Is liberal propaganda driving the perception that the Dream is dead?
Suhay notes that public opinion data reveal Democrats more pessimistic about mobility, but the narrative is not simply propagandistic; it reflects observed inequalities and policy debates, with Republicans showing a more optimistic outlook on mobility.
Is the American Dream Dead?
Q: Is the American Dream dead as of January 2026?
Elizabeth Suhay argues that the Dream remains a high bar for many, but the data show Millennials and other groups face real barriers; the sentiment is more pessimistic among Democrats, while Republicans remain comparatively more optimistic, though the gap is not uniform across all subgroups.
How Did the Heartland Go Red?
Q: How do community narratives influence the way residents view national parties?
In Uniontown, residents see the Democrats as representatives of working-class interests, while in Gravesend, the Republican Party is seen as protecting their way of life from threats.
How Did the Heartland Go Red?
Q: What is the significance of local party leaders and local parties in shaping these communities' political behaviors?
Local party leaders shape candidate recruitment and help people understand what the parties represent; they play a key role in local politics.
