  • Audio issues

Please either have these edited by an audio professional, use some editing software yourself or something. They sound okay when listening from phone speakers but in my car the audio is either too quiet or blasting my ear drums. Love the content though. I just can’t listen to them 🥲

  • Really wanted to like it

I really wanted to like it. I wanted to be able to listen to this after my daughter and I read the books together but the amount of cuss words is excessive and the wine is constant mentioned. Not who I want my daughter listening too.

  • Excessively Diverting

This is so fun. I enjoy Molly and her guesses about what’s gonna happen. Becca is great with her “I will neither confirm or deny”. I also love when they cover the adaptations and retellings and they have led me to some books, I might have otherwise not known about.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Mansfield Park Volume 3 Chapters 2-3
Q: What does Henry's conduct reveal about his character, and how does Fanny interpret his promises versus his actions?
Henry's conduct shows a pattern of performative charm and strategic persuasion intended to win, rather than a steady, genuinely grounded love; Fanny reads this as manipulation and tests his consistency, ultimately questioning whether his proclaimed constancy can survive real-life distance and refusal.
Mansfield Park Volume 2 Chapters 1-2
Q: Were Maria's wishes of Henry Crawford proposing ever realistic?
It's debatable; while there were signs of attraction, Henry's character suggests he wasn't serious about his intentions with Maria, leaving her hopes misguided.
Mansfield Park Volume 2 Chapters 1-2
Q: What do you make of Sir Thomas' sudden change of heart regarding Fanny?
Sir Thomas's change of heart shows a newfound appreciation for Fanny, possibly due to his struggle overseas and a longing for familial connection, highlighting the complexity of their relationship shaped by class and imperialism.
Mansfield Park Chapters 8-10
Q: How do you think this will play out in the book, and how does Edmund compare to other clergymen in Jane Austen's novel?
Edmund is the first clergyman to be taken seriously as a love interest and his genuine beliefs contrast sharply with characters like Mr. Collins and Mr. Elton, who represent more comic or flawed versions of clergymen in Austen's work.
Anne of Avenue A with Audrey and Emily
Q: What are your thoughts on your character adaptations?
They discussed the difficulties in adapting certain characters like Anne, emphasizing the importance of modern communication to avoid miscommunication tropes.
