Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

ORIGINS II w/ Matt (aka Stormageddon)
Q: What sparked your shift toward RPGs and story-driven games?
The moment I encountered Chrono Trigger and then Final Fantasy 7 revealed that games could tell emotionally engaging stories, which pushed me to explore genres more deeply and seek narrative-rich experiences.
ORIGINS II w/ Matt (aka Stormageddon)
Q: When did you first start playing video games and what are your earliest memories?
I talk about starting with the Atari 2600, the challenges of early games like ET and Superman, and then moving onto NES with a two-game combo that hooked me into gaming for life, followed by a love affair with Genesis and Sonic that shaped my tastes.
UNDERAPPRECIATED I w/ Andrew (The Silent Discographer)
Q: What is an option or a setting that you always change before starting a game?
I usually check sound and HDR settings first, and I set surround or similar options when available, plus I tweak aspect ratios and other accessibility features as needed to tailor each game to my setup.
CHALLENGE II w/ Sean (Kirby Conversations)
Q: What is a proud gaming achievement or challenge you've accomplished?
Sean explains his ongoing challenge of completing Threads of Fate using only a Brady Games guide, to experience the game as players would have back in 1999, without relying on modern online resources, and finds it rewarding for nostalgia, discovery, and a sense of puzzle-solving with limited information.
OUTSIDE GAMES I w/ Mikolai (Forgotten Worlds)
Q: What is a game that you wrongly judged by its cover or title?
I passed on the Mega Man game for the Sega Genesis slash Mega Drive, the Willy Wars, back in the day. I thought it wasn't for me, but later rediscovered it and loved it.
