  • Excellent Show!

I greatly enjoy the depth of research and pleasant groundedness of this show. McKenna and Gooey keep the show moving and on-track, with valid observations and a sincere approach that looks for the significance of every game, whatever the quality. The guests bring helpful perspectives too, and the hosts show warmth toward them without letting the show descend into just a recorded conversation of people hanging out. I like the music too!

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. (With Fredo and Doctor Butler)
Q: What is your history with BioFreaks?
The guests describe playing BioFreaks casually with friends, noting its unique jetpack mechanics and the surprisingly deep lore despite its uneven balance, and they reflect on nostalgia and personal memories around the game and its era.
World Cup 98 (With John Cullen)
Q: What made World Cup 98 feel like a true World Cup experience on the Nintendo 64?
The game used real stadiums, authentic jerseys, a World Cup trophy presentation, official commentary, and a strong World Cup branding package, which together created a sense of being part of a global tournament rather than just playing a soccer game.
Major League Baseball Featuring Ken Griffey Jr. (With Mewyabby)
Q: What made the batting mechanic stand out compared to other baseball games of the era?
The game combined a moving reticle with a timing-based swing, and the pitch location could be altered on the fly, creating a more reactive and skill-based experience than many contemporaries.
All-Star Baseball 99 (With Marc Normandin)
Q: Why do they call it 99 if it's based on the 98 season?
They always did a year ahead, marketing their games this way even if the results were based on the current season.
All-Star Baseball 99 (With Marc Normandin)
Q: What makes you a fan of a team?
It was geography for a long time, you know, with like the Red Sox and, you know, I was a Patriots fan.
