I greatly enjoy the depth of research and pleasant groundedness of this show. McKenna and Gooey keep the show moving and on-track, with valid observations and a sincere approach that looks for the significance of every game, whatever the quality. The guests bring helpful perspectives too, and the hosts show warmth toward them without letting the show descend into just a recorded conversation of people hanging out. I like the music too!
A great mix of personalities & great useage of audio clips of the game being discussed. I love all the info mentioned about the state of the world for whatever game is being discussed. reminds me of gaming chats with my friends.

This show centers on nostalgia for the Nintendo 64 era, pairing hosts with a rotating lineup of guests to explore both individual games and the broader cultural context of the 90s and early 2000s. Episodes frequently analyze game design, hardware quirks, and the era's vibe, often tying titles to contemporaneous music, movies, and events. A standout trait is the warm, conversational tone that invites deep dives into specific games while keeping the discussion accessible to listeners who may be new to the era. The format—chronological, with attentive guests and thoughtful banter—makes it feel like a guided, memory-rich tour through a beloved console's catalog and its cultural footprint.
