  • Holy cow! I listened to one episode because it was on one of my all-time favorite bands badfinger and it was just disgraceful ... The host knew nothing about the band. Read a Wikipedia blurb about them... Regurgitated everything his (knowledgeable) 24-year-old badfinger expert guest had to say), was completely incapable of coming up with one single interesting question or observation for his guest. ... WORST...HOST... EVER...

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Blue Neighbourhood: Troye Sivan with Kiki T
Q: How does the album balance vulnerability with pop sensibilities?
The album uses intimate, confessional lyrics laid over glossy synth-pop textures, which makes the emotional weight feel accessible rather than overwhelming; it's the kind of sound that invites you to feel something real while still enjoying a pop melody you can hum.
Blue Neighbourhood: Troye Sivan with Kiki T
Q: Why did you choose Blue Neighbourhood for today's discussion?
I picked it because it feels like a whole world—gleemo in particular—that blends upbeat energy with deeply personal storytelling about coming of age and queerness; it still sounds fresh and adventurous, and the way Troye Sivan builds a vivid, relatable atmosphere resonates with my own escapist tendencies.
A Ghost Is Born: Wilco with Ryan Luis Rodriguez
Q: So why have you decided to pick A Ghost Is Born?
I chose it because the album speaks to me on a personal level about struggle, recovery, and the way music can articulate internal experiences that words alone can't capture, making it a powerful, empathetic listening experience.
Lincoln: They Might Be Giants with Matt Aukamp
Q: Why did you choose Lincoln as the album to discuss?
Because it captures the band's blend of smart, existential themes with whimsical, sensational imagery and shows how they balance humor and depth in a way that still feels fresh decades later.
Soviet Kitsch: Regina Spektor with Gea Qendro
Q: What do you think of the tonal shifts in Regina's music?
Gea describes the tonal shifts as fascinating, highlighting how Spektor can switch from whimsical to deeply emotional within a single song.
