  • TDs allowed by defense in playoffs

In the Herald, Callahan writes that Patriots defense has given up 2 TDS in 1st two playoff games. Then in his podcast with Devin McCourty, he says the defense has given up a TD in each playoff game. Given that the beat the Chargers 16-3 in wild card game, could Callahan please explain where the Chargers scored a TD?

When someone has trouble counting to one, how do you rely on them for quantitative analysis?

The good news for him, he probably thinks this is a two star rating,

  • Favorite patriots podcast

Callahan is the best mix of informative and fun in any Pats podcast I’ve listened to. He always has good analysis of what is actually going on in the games, and never swings too far to the homer side or the Felger side of things. I like that he isn’t afraid to talk a little bit about things outside of football like the dad pod part of the recent podcasts. At least for me, I don’t listen to podcasts just for raw information but also for the personality of the host. I like that he lets that shine ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Patriots Year 2 leap predictions, position battles and mailbag
Q: Who has the best potential year-two leap among this draft class?
Caleb Loma is highlighted as the top candidate for a year-two leap due to rare athletic traits and age, with Gabe Akers also mentioned as a potential breakout but second to Loma.
Patriots Year 2 leap predictions, position battles and mailbag
Q: Which street free agents could Patriots realistically sign before the season starts?
The host argues that no current free agents are realistically intruding; even big names would require injuries to demand a move, and the team is unlikely to sign anyone imminently unless an opportunity arises later in camp.
Patriots Trade Marte Mapu to Texans + Mailbag
Q: Like clockwork, in terms of draft picks only, how much would you pay for AJ Brown?
The range discussed centers on avoiding a first-round cost and aiming for a second-round pick plus a later pick; a second-round plus a fifth seems to be the practical ceiling given that the class is deep and there are better long-term builds, though opinions vary.
Patriots free-agent grades and Eliot Wolf reviews Patriots' offseason
Q: What was the rationale behind signing Kevin Byard?
Byard is viewed as a high-caliber, durable, veteran presence who can upgrade the secondary and potentially serve as a captain, with the trade-off of age and guaranteed money weighed against his on-field impact.
Alec Pierce, A.J. Brown and Patriots free agency predictions
Q: Do you think the Patriots will land AJ Brown or Alec Pierce?
We expect a strong possibility that they pursue one of the two, with Brown as the more likely target if the price is right, but Pierce remains in play due to cost and long-term upside.
