  • The go-to podcast for space founders and VCs

I discovered this podcast two weeks before I was preparing to moderate a panel on New Space for a deep tech conference and it was exactly what I needed to get up to speed on the opportunities and challenges of space commercialization. Mo finds just the right balance in unpacking both technology and business implications, and it’s a master class in the key metrics, terminology and “bleeding head” problems in the various sectors.

  • Engaging Conversation

Just finished listening to Mo’s latest podcast with Jane Poynter and Tabor MacCallum from Space Perspective. It gave me goosebumps with the prospect of any one of us going to space, including me, and what that would do for modern civilization.

These two interviewees are remarkable humans - check out their past with Biosphere 2, Paragon Space Development, and StratEx. And hats off to the interviewer, Mo, for bringing all this to our attention in a fascinating interview.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Space & Defense Market Update - April 2026 (LIVE from NYSE)
Q: What makes manufacturing at scale the hard part, not the engineering of a single satellite?
The real challenge is building repeatable production lines, supply chains, and cost structures to produce hundreds or thousands of satellites per year, not just one-off prototypes.
Space & Defense Market Update - April 2026 (LIVE from NYSE)
Q: How do you think about the market opportunity for large, power-dense satellites given Starlink's dominance?
Apex sees expansion into defense and sovereign markets that Starlink won't touch, leveraging scale manufacturing to deliver multiple units per launch and targeting complementary use cases rather than direct head-to-head competition.
Autonomy at the Edge, with Scott Sanders (CGO of Forterra)
Q: What have you learned about selling into the DoD since joining Forterra?
Success hinges on understanding that DoD procurement is fragmented and heavily relationship-driven; you must offer flexible, multi-path purchasing options and demonstrate reliable field performance, not just a compelling demo.
The Early Innings, with Mark Boggett (CEO of Seraphim)
Q: You've built a three-part Seraphim business (accelerator, venture funds, public fund). How do these parts interact to support a portfolio company through different growth stages?
The accelerator feeds early-stage companies, often from universities or corporate spin-outs, and primes them for fundraising by shaping boards, governance, and advisory networks. The venture funds then back these companies as they scale, sometimes continuing investments outside the accelerator, while the public fund provides a broader market mechanism that can amplify capital, liquidity, and visibility, all while maintaining a global, diversified exposure.
Thermal Breakthrough, with David Tearse (CEO of Karman Industries)
Q: What do you think people underestimate about thermal management?
Many see heat as just something to remove inefficiently, missing the massive potential for efficiency improvements in how we manage thermal applications.
