If I want to check out a new system, the very first thing that I do is check whether there’s a Party of One episode about it—and Jeff pulls in such an incredible diversity of games, that quite frequently, there is! He and his guests do an incredible job showcasing the mechanics, displaying what makes the system special, and telling a tight compelling narrative—somehow in an hour and a half, every time. It’s truly amazing stuff.
Jeff Stormer does incredible work with Party of 1. The production value, the discovery of new and/or unusual games, and tight episodes that don't feel rushed are a perfect way to find new play experiences and systems. Putting the spotlight on indie games is critical work, and the playful enthusiasm he treats that work with is infectious. I have found great games, learned to play better, and had a few laughs and few tears with this AP. One of the greats, without a doubt.
This is my go to podcast when I’m curious about a new game. If it’s an episode of the show, I know I’m going to get a great example of a great game.
