  • The best theme park podcast.

Parkcast is the best podcast for informative content and interviews. Not just about parks and rides, but about the people who contribute to the public’s enjoyment of theme parks. The host Bex is really engaging and funny. But she also asks great questions and keeps the whole thing moving along. Her interviews are really interesting and she always has great guests.

  • Amazing Podcast

My only reason for not rating this 5* is due to guest “influencers”. It might just be me, but I get sick of hearing what the same 2 or 3 influencers have to say about topics, they have all got their own platforms to discuss that.

I come here to listen to other peoples opinions not theirs on repeat. I much prefer the guest professionals on this podcast as they offer a far more in depth understanding and reality to things.

Overall: An amazing podcast with a good pace not found on others. Subject... more

  • Finally a great theme park podcast!

Most other theme park podcasts are now talking about hotels, tickets, food or surveys. This isn’t why we enjoy the hearing about what’s going on in the industry! Parkcast talks all about attractions, lands, theming etc. it’s always a good listen. Looking forward to more coverage on the upcoming UK Universal park.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S4 Ep21: Lawrence Mancey on Paultons Park in 2026
Q: What was the thinking behind choosing Eurofighter for Valgard, and how does it fit with your target audience?
The ride was selected as a next-step up in thrill that still remains approachable for families; it creates a clear progression for older children while keeping the experience within a family-friendly, compact footprint.
S4 Ep20: James Mellors - A lifetime in attractions
Q: How do you balance risk and investment when deciding what to upgrade or add next?
We prioritize long-term viability over short-term thrills; we upgrade infrastructure, invest in theming and entertainment, and expand indoor/outdoor experiences while keeping budgets realistic and maintaining a human-led leadership style.
S4 Ep20: James Mellors - A lifetime in attractions
Q: Why did you focus on turning Fantasy Island around instead of moving into a different asset?
Fantasy Island offered a strong location and potential for a themed, immersive experience; the aim was to restore showmanship and create a British village with a strong sense of place, rather than clone a different park.
S4 Ep20: James Mellors - A lifetime in attractions
Q: What initially inspired your expansion beyond the two rides you started with?
It was a mix of passion and opportunity; we learned quickly that some rides performed better financially, so we gradually moved to add more rides, diversify into events, and chase larger projects while maintaining a family-led approach.
S4 Ep22: Why do the UK Theme Park awards matter? With Lawrence Roots.
Q: How is the voting split between public and judges, and why?
The system mimics a Eurovision-style model where the public vote accounts for 50% and the judges' scores account for the other 50%, ensuring diverse and representative winners across categories.
