  • Let the guest tell their own story

Too many unnecessary interjections that interrupted the flow in the Murder In The Front Row ep. Took over an hour to finally get to talking about the story movie, which was supposed to not be the story of Metallica, but then proceeded to direct the conversation to discuss mostly Metallica.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Imbalanced History: Tony Levin: The Stickman Cometh!
Q: What was it about their playing that made you say you need the stick for this?
Levin explains that Adrian Belew's guitar sounds and the overall experimental approach by Fripp, Bruford, and Belew inspired him to use the Chapman Stick to contribute in a way that could expand harmonic and melodic possibilities beyond a traditional bass, allowing him to engage with the ensemble on a different plane.
Metal Mayhem ROC: AC/DC Logo Designer Gerard Huerta on Rock History
Q: How did pre-digital tools influence the work
Huerta notes that pre-computers meant work was drawn, inked, and color-painted by hand, with dye-transfer processes and back-and-forth with art directors shaping the final look.
Metal Mayhem ROC: AC/DC Logo Designer Gerard Huerta on Rock History
Q: What was the process like for the AC/DC logo
He describes three sketches, choosing one, and then completing the artwork, with the project evolving around the band's image rather than direct collaboration with the artists at the time.
Metal Mayhem ROC: AC/DC Logo Designer Gerard Huerta on Rock History
Q: How did you first get into lettering and logo design for music
He explains studying lettering in art school, excelling in it, and how a supportive teacher helped him graduate. He then moved to CBS as an album cover designer and began drawing logos in tandem with the art direction process.
Ugly Things: THE YARDBIRDS: Peter Stanfield interview
Q: Tell me how you did it, what was the process?
I went back to original sources—magazines, newspapers, fanzines from the era—to reconstruct how the Yardbirds and their contemporaries were discussed in real time, aiming to avoid retrospective narratives and capture the moment-to-moment development of their story.
