  • More Rachel, Less Evan

This is a tale of two pods. The episodes with Rachel are terrific — she and Mannix are both smart and insightful and they have a great rapport. Evan Turner is not ready for prime time. He’s inarticulate, rambling and seems unprepared. Please find a better second co-host or give us more Rachel!

  • Chris is a dumb guy

“Knicks are a good east team I guess but not a great team - everyone would admit that) - top 3 offense and top 7 defense in the reg season - top 4 net rating - and has had the best net and making history with their 7 game win streak and margin of victories. You are not tapped in and should consider steering clear of talking about basketball.

We have enough talent to warrant two more teams.

We don’t have enough smart owners and GMs. They are the cause of these poor performing teams.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Inside Tom Dundon's Cheap Standoff With Portland (w/ Bill Oram)
Q: What role does Jody Allen play in this situation and how does that affect the deal?
The discussion centers on fiduciary responsibilities and whether selling the team to Dundon was the best path for keeping it in Oregon, with debate over whether a local sale would have better preserved the city's access to the franchise.
Inside Tom Dundon's Cheap Standoff With Portland (w/ Bill Oram)
Q: How likely is relocation and what options could Dundon pursue if Portland stalls?
Relocation appears to hinge on how the city and state respond to public financing and leverage; potential targets include cities like Seattle, Austin, and Kansas City, with expansion fees and market conditions playing a big role in any move.
Inside Tom Dundon's Cheap Standoff With Portland (w/ Bill Oram)
Q: What was your first warning sign about the Blazers' future in Oregon?
The signs pointed to a disruptive leadership style under Dundon and an unprepared local system for his aggressive bargaining, with the sense that he would push hard on terms and leverage the relocation threat to maximize leverage.
The Truth Behind the Celtics Trading Jaylen Brown (w/ Jay King)
Q: Did you come away with any clarity on why this particular deal was done so quickly?
The guest acknowledges that while there were basketball reasons discussed, there isn't full clarity on why the deal happened as rapidly as it did, leaving some questions about the decision timeline and the prioritization of long-term fit over immediate improvement.
The Thunder Will Have A Very Complicated Offseason (w/ Mark Medina)
Q: Do you think that a big swing for a top player is even possible without dismantling the Thunder's depth?
Yes, it's possible in theory to pursue a high-impact upgrade by leveraging a combination of top draft capital and selective roster moves, but it would require sacrificing either future assets or one of the core young stars, which the Thunder may be reluctant to do given their emphasis on continuity and ceiling through youth.
