I'm not here to try and prove them innocent or guilty, what I am here to do is allow them the chance to tell their stories. We'll look at the case's against them and allow them to tell us their acc... more

  • Biased reporting Season 50

While he directly reads from an article about death row inmate Tony Apanovitch, he entirely omits his previous guilty plea to sexual battery of a 16 year old girl when Apanovitch was 21. Originally charged with rape, which is the victim's account. While yes, it doesn't mean he is guilty of a second rape (and murder) it is huge for context. Seriously offensive to leave this out.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

No One Was Coming P1
Q: So what happens with your phone calls? How long do you get?
The guest explains he gets 20-minute phone calls and can call back up to late evening from his cell, with calls on the prison tablet, making communication somewhat easier.
No One Was Coming P2
Q: What was the most difficult part of trying to file an appeal while locked down?
Losing access to property and court-like processes, having to rely on limited communications, and waiting months for essential paperwork to arrive, which jeopardized the timing of the appeal.
No One Was Coming P2
Q: You mentioned being transferred and meeting Dustin Turner in other facilities; how did those connections influence your perspective on the system?
It showed how the prison network is a small world but also how different facilities can have similar issues with discipline, access to paperwork, and support structures that enable or hinder appeals.
Crimes of Omission - Rob Rosen
Q: What inspired Rob Rosen to pivot from journalism to creating a crime-focused television series?
Rosen explains that exposure to sensational, credulous reporting motivated him to pursue a more rigorous, truth-focused approach, which led to relitigating cases through a family-centered lens and pairing a homicide detective with a defense attorney to examine evidence impartially.
Every Parent's Camera Roll - Kelly Nichols
Q: How did Kelly first learn she was being charged?
She was informed by her husband and lawyer after the authorities decided to pursue charges following the initial allegations against Doug.
