Our final episode of Season 6 is a practically perfect in every way screenplay! Topics include: protagonists and deuteragonists, why this Mahnishtahnah is necessary, and a pitch from Larry that makes Andie cry!
Larry and Andie are mixed on this comic book adaptation. Topics include a tonally different mahnishtahnah, what we need from a superhero movie, and Larry's comparison of this movie to Aladdin.
Andie and Larry offer a lot of fixes to this TV-spinoff film. Topics include protagonist and inciting incident troubles, the need to re-introduce audiences to characters, and parallels to Aladdin.
Of course...you can always choose...OUR WAY! Larry and Andie unravel this spooky sleeper. Topics include a functional Mahnishtahnah, MORE CONFLICT, and Andie's billion dollar idea.
Andie and Larry manage their emotions to handle this spiritual Disney experience. Topics include a hard to find inciting incident, a discussion about different protagonists, and general cosmological questions.
Listener Beware: Larry has the darkest possible take on Goof Troop, and really goes through some things. Is this show actually a psychological horror series, as he claims?
In this bonus episode, Larry tackles the two-part launch of Darkwing Duck. Let's get analytical!
Andie and Larry are pretty whelmed by this 1999 teen rom com by Touchstone. Topics include: the dual plot, some cringey moments by modern sensibilities, and a scene that makes Larry cry!
I have learned so much about screenwriting and story structure from this podcast. If you love Disney films and story telling this is truly one of the best podcasts out there.
This is the BEST podcast on all things Disney.
Larry Brenner is simply AMAZING at breaking down Disney films but more importantly, he infuses each episode with joy, humor, candor, and insightful observations that I guarantee you will enjoy immensely! Great podcast with a wonderful mix of analysis and history.
Andie and Larry have really given me a better appreciate for the story telling and intrigue to Disney movies. I hadn’t watched much Disney since childhood until I started listening along and considering the narrative break downs that they they do so well. I honestly think this podcast has made me a better writer and teacher.
Once Upon a Disney is the perfect listen for anyone wanting to nerd out over Disney films and literary analysis. Even casual Disney movie fans will delight in the fun conversations about these films and characters that are such a big part of our culture. Unlike many film deconstructionists, Andie and Larry bring big Disney love to the conversation. They’re not here to ruin your childhood favorites, but instead bring a deeper understanding and appreciation for the art of these stories. Their insi... more

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an "L" on her forehead
Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn't make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do, so much to see
So what's wrong with taking the back streets?
You'll never know if you don't go
You'll never shine i... more
I have a huge problem with Larry Brenner’s impression of a newsboy at the beginning of the “Newsies” episode. It is ‘papes nor papers. You call yourself an expert. Unacceptable.
A wonderful deep dive on your favorite (or less favorite) Disney movies courtesy of Larry and Andie. Some very astute observations and discussion, but with a casual and enjoyable air to it which makes for some quality easy listening. Highly recommended!
I look forward to to each new episode of Once Upon a Disney. Larry and Andie breakdown the movie of the week to discuss all aspects of story telling. As someone who likes (but is not obsessed) with Disney, I enjoy these discussions for the compelling conversation. These discussions have given me perspective on the story structure of other movies and books as well. I highly recommend this podcast!
I recently found this podcast because of the Twisted Sisterds fb group. I’m loving it so much ! I’d be Interested to hear an episode on the Watcher in the Woods, the scariest Disney Movie that I’ve seen as a child. But I love scary movies and didn’t realize it was Disney till I was older. Thank you for this show 💫
What a fabulous, fun podcast! And it brings back such good memories of all the films.

You thought Disney films were simple story animations? Oh, my friend, you have much to learn, just as I have listening to the first two episodes of this entertaining and revelatory podcast which feels more like two incredibly wise friends sitting around passionately talking about the elements of films that wo... more
As a lifelong Disney fan, I enjoyed the smart and enthusiast commentary from fellow Disney super fans Larry and Annie. The analysis is academic but fun. Highly recommended!!!
