  • Brian is very smart

I just started listening to this as the Red Sox got hot in the last few months. I am a knowledgeable baseball fan, very casual basketball, football, and hockey fan.

    Brian covers everything with enthusiasm.

He really breaks down the pitch mix and habits of Red Sox players. While I’m sure he despises the Yankees, Astros, etc. he evaluates their teams fairly and is not a Red Sox homer.

Should be essential listening in the coming week as the Sox make their run and the Celtics prepare for their rem... more

Please stop with the historical bellyaching — we’re all tired of it — move on… Also, stop being hypocritical — you use the offensive line for excuses for Maye but not the running backs. Stevenson is a good back — not even a great back would have overcome that line and no passing game threat. Your favoritism is very transparent…

  • Interesting content, poor podcasting

While I enjoy OTP, Brian has some annoying speaking habits that hold it back:

    • He often interrupts his guests

    • He uses a lot of wordy/redundant phrases, such as “at this particular point in time” (just say “now”); “with regard to…” (just say “about”); etc.

If he could edit, slow down, and let his guests speak, it would greatly improve the podcast.

  • My Favorite Boston Podcast

This is the first podcast review I’ve ever written, despite listing to probably four hours a day of podcasts for the last five years.

I subscribe to podcasts for each of the Boston sports teams - as many as four different ones for the Patriots alone.

Off the Pike has risen to become my favorite one for any given team, despite not putting all of his attention on one team only.

Brian’s shows feel to be the best researched and he is the best prepared. I enjoy all of the information he provides t... more

Brian (I think that’s your name), take Simmons advice and shut up about BB’s personal life. And stop trying to extend its implications to sports just so that you can revel in it. Grow up and talk Boston sports…
