As part of an active effort to start to fill in the many gaps in my knowledge of NZ history, have just started listening to the NZ Wars series. First up: Stories of Wairau. An accessible and engaging podcast that provides detailed, yet crucial context for truly understanding the events that took place on June 17 1843. Highly recommend!
This is so informative. It’s really puts into context what happened, when and why. It also gives context as to what is occurring currently with Māori land claims and the like.
Brilliant!! Throws everything I learnt at primary school in the 50s out the window.
