  • Olympic Game

Watching this game took me back to a 10yr old kid in 1980. I didn’t know a darn thing about Hockey to tell you the truth but fell in love w the sport right there. I wanted to watch games, I wanted to learn to skate. I became a huge hockey fan and this was the spark that lit the flame so to speak. I hope this game does the same thing for young kids that watched this tournament.

  • Snuggy

Was listening to the March 30 episode I believe and couldn’t agree more about the optimism going forward.

The Core is here you don’t need to go big game hunting in free agency I think you can just look to fill a need and I still see a small hole in regard to grit and toughness on this squad and if he is out there this summer local boy Trent Frederic fits this to a T. He can move up and down the lineup, play center or wing and is tough as they come.

  • Tanking?

2 simple answers for that, the way things are going they won’t have to. Regardless yes they should it would be better in the long run. This team is unwatchable right now.

Use these last 30 or so games to evaluate these players honestly. Ask hard questions on the core players and make hard decisions if need be. You have to recognize a problem and fix it. I think they are at that point sadly.

E136: Looking ahead to the Blues offseason and 2026-27 season (Listener Q&A)
Q: Any thoughts on tanking versus building for the draft, and which teams have handled it well?
The host explains that tanking is primarily a front-office strategy, citing Montreal, Chicago, and Detroit as examples of different approaches and outcomes, and emphasizes that players and coaches wouldn't tank intentionally; the discussion centers on organizational structure and long-term planning.
E136: Looking ahead to the Blues offseason and 2026-27 season (Listener Q&A)
Q: If you could add one former Blue to boost competitiveness, who would it be and why?
Four options are discussed, including Alex Petrangelo, Al McInnis (historic era), Bret Hull, and Wayne Gretzky, with Hull and Petrangelo highlighted as the most impactful options depending on cap compatibility; the speaker leans toward Hull as the star complement to Robert Thomas.

Q: Was Cam Fowler's extension a mistake or an overpay?
The host argues it's not an overpay given the context and value, while noting it could be scrutinized if the team's direction changes; he suggests the contract may become more scrutinized if the Blues pivot away from Fowler's role.
E136: Looking ahead to the Blues offseason and 2026-27 season (Listener Q&A)
Q: What is the future of the Blues' defensive core and how might that influence decisions?
The host envisions a future where Yuriczek and Broberg develop into key pieces, with potential moves involving Souter or Fowler depending on draft results and the emergence of younger players from Springfield; the back-end could be reshaped through a mix of development and selective acquisitions.
E136: Looking ahead to the Blues offseason and 2026-27 season (Listener Q&A)
Q: What do you think the Blues will do in the off season and who will we trade?
The host suggests a top-five draft pick would steer them toward a retool on the fly, with fewer trades needed if lottery luck goes their way; otherwise, bigger moves could occur around veterans like Bennington, Kyrou, and Pereko depending on draft outcomes.
