  • Great analysis, antagonistic politics

Solid tactical analysis and a great source of team news as well. Frustratingly political, however, and sporadically veers into conservative-bashing territory. The commentators are very open about their belief that the team should closely and aggressively align with progressive values, and distance itself from any sponsor or entity that has different values or goals.

  • Latent transphobia was tough to ignore

Granted I’ve only listened to one episode, episode 360, but the latent transphobia in the discussion was hard not to notice. The description of the episode says it all. They didn’t want to do it but at the behest of the team, who were desperate for friendly press, they discussed the Sounders partnering with a right wing company known for dehumanizing trans people, taking advantage of poor people and refusing to offer abortion services The host was obviously bored and was completely unprepared st... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ryan Rosenblatt dishes on his love of Dejan Joveljić
Q: How might his presence influence Seattle's tactical approach?
The guest describes how a true number nine can change how the team builds play around him, enabling more half-chances, pressing, and overall confidence, and how that could shift roster-building decisions.
Ryan Rosenblatt dishes on his love of Dejan Joveljić
Q: Ryan, what makes Dejan Joveljić such a compelling fit for the Sounders?
Ryan explains that Joveljić offers a rare combination of goal-scoring instinct, ability to create space, and a mentality that wants to be a long-term club figure, which could energize the squad and the fanbase.
Chris Daniels on how the World Cup has changed perceptions of Seattle
Q: What were your expectations for World Cup attendance and how did they compare to reality?
I was skeptical at first and expected smaller crowds, but the turnout surpassed expectations, with near-sellout stadiums and massive downtown participation that exceeded most projections.
Listener Mailbag, July 14
Q: Which of these three players (Morris, Mussovsky, De Rosario) is most likely to have the most goals by season end, and who will have the least?
Jordan Morris is expected to lead in goals with increased minutes; De Rosario is projected to have fewer opportunities and thus fewer goals, while Mussovsky's output is uncertain but likely middle-tier based on playing time and hip injury concerns.
Listener Mailbag, July 14
Q: What do you think is the best way to realize our current attackers' potential? Formation tweaks, lineup adjustments, or just to wait for some better luck?
The hosts suggest that while formation tweaks can help, the bigger issue is converting chances into goals, particularly from the number nine position, and exploring a balance between maintaining current players and possibly adding an attacker who fits the club's culture and needs.
