I loved the book Normal Women and have listed to it twice since downloading it. This podcast expands on the book, I think, especially with the guests included. Well done!
Really enjoyed the episodes, especially the history of women’s lives, expectations placed on them and surprising stories of women who lived outside of societal norms.
I was disappointed by Geri Halliwell’s view that women are not expected to be ‘angels in the home’ anymore than men. I couldn’t have disagreed more, particularly given the ‘trad wives’ movement, but I guess that’s the beauty of these discussions. It really gets you thinking!
The seriousness of rape downplayed.
However, I love the podcast - it’s refreshingly serious
I found Normal Women extremely informative and very entertaining. I don’t think I’ve ever learned so much in a podcast. This is history that needs to be acknowledged and I appreciate all the work that Philippa Gregory has done. Brava!
An awesome podcast. So well researched, nuanced, varied and interesting. The participants are not afraid to ask difficult questions but comfortable in their expertise. Refreshing and ground breaking.
