Each week, they start with a debate or discussion. Why don’t men ask follow up questions? Should schools ban phones? Is dating an AI chatbot cheating? Then, they go out into the world, talk to experts, conduct experiments, and find the answer.

  • Great Topics; Disappointing Analysis

I listened to a few of these after it was recommended by Wiser World. The hosts are engaging, the topics are neat, but the actual thinking around some of these topics seems to miss obvious considerations.

I noticed a lack of thoughtfulness in the episodes on outdoor clothes on the bed and whether recycling works, and those were two of my first three episodes I listened to, so I’ve decided to give the rest a pass.

It’s too bad though! I love the idea behind the podcast, but execution falters…

Extremely poor take regarding the country-accent and hip hop and r&b comparison especially using Elvis as THE example!

  • Entertainingly Educational

These three guys - Manny, Noah, and Devan - have a marvelously approachable way of delivering answers to questions you never knew you had. The topics are well researched, the guests are top notch, and the show is excellently paced. The trio of hosts have chemistry that you can hear in every episode; it’s not just that they’re great friends - you can tell they love what they do.

If you’re not listening, you are doing yourself a disservice. Get on it.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Super-Agers: Why do some old people age better than others?
Q: Can aging well be influenced by lifestyle or is it mostly genetic?
While genetics and brain biology play a role, the episode discusses evidence that social connections, physical activity, and lifelong mental engagement significantly influence whether an older person becomes a super-ager.
Super-Agers: Why do some old people age better than others?
Q: What exactly differentiates a super-ager from someone else their age?
It's primarily about memory: super-agers have memory performance comparable to much younger people, and they show signs of retained cognitive abilities across a battery of tests, not just general brightness.
Should we still circumcise babies?
Q: What explains the rise of circumcision in the United States in the 20th century?
The rise is attributed to a mix of medical advocacy, germ theory and hygiene narratives, hospital births, and a perception of circumcision as beneficial for health and cleanliness, reinforced by professional endorsements and cultural norms.
Kids can’t read anymore. Does it matter? (with author Jason Reynolds)
Q: What would you suggest to improve literacy inside and outside the classroom?
The panelists emphasize a combination of systemic changes—recalibrating reading expectations to meet students where they are, investing in access to books, reducing over-reliance on scripted curricula, and addressing broader social determinants like health and housing—along with valuing long-form reading and offering diverse formats.
Kids can’t read anymore. Does it matter? (with author Jason Reynolds)
Q: Do you believe we're in a reading crisis?
Jason Reynolds argues that globally there is a reading issue driven by hyperstimulation and cultural shifts, but cautions against labeling it a true crisis; instead, the data should be interpreted in context to understand long-term patterns and the role of literacy in society.
