Join Manny, Noah, and Devan — three best friends and journalists — as they settle dumb arguments by actually doing the research.

Each week, they start with a debate or discussion. Why don’t men ask follow up questions? Should schools ban phones? Is dating an AI chatbot cheating? Then, they go out into the world, talk to experts, conduct experiments, and find the answer.

  • Easy listen

This is one of those rare podcasts that I’ll listen to even if the week’s topic isn’t that relevant for me. It’s both informative and entertaining, the perfect combination!

  • Like the show but screen guests!

Is it just me or did the internet guest sound like a 19-year-old drunk valley girl? Ugh.

  • Such a consistently great show

I’ve been listening to No Such Thing for about a year now and it’s a really cool little part of my week hearing these three friends talk about “stuff”. I’m normally mostly into science podcasts so this one is different - super interesting and well researched whilst also being mostly calming and relaxing, something I think Podcasts as a medium can do really well. Where else could you get episodes like “Will AI take our jobs” alongside “How long should we spend in the shower” and “Do horses really... more

  • The podcast I didn’t know I needed

Came here from Search Engine almost a year ago and very happy I did. Every episode is just thought provoking enough to want to tune in but not so heady that I’m overwhelmed. It feels like I’m one of the guys just sitting in on a well thought out but casual discussion about a question I didn’t know I wanted to know the answer to. It’s a breath of fresh air after being bombarded by the news cycle - although I like the political takes too. Keep it up. You’ve got a good thing going.

  • My new favorite show

The pacing, conversation, interviews, and questions are all interesting and well presented. My question: management styles - micromanaging vs free range - who gets better results? Great show, look forward to future episodes!

Why are there so many twin films?
Q: Is there evidence of intellectual property theft in the twin film cases you discuss?
There are anecdotes and allegations about conversations that may have influenced ideas, but more broadly the phenomenon likely results from a mix of zeitgeist, technological constraints, and a shared cultural imagination rather than simple theft.
Why are there so many twin films?
Q: Can you tell us about the similarities and differences between Armageddon and Deep Impact?
Armageddon is a bigger, more action-oriented blockbuster with a focus on oil drillers and astronauts, while Deep Impact leans into a melodramatic, science-informed approach; both centers on destroying an asteroid but diverge in tone and character focus.
Are dentists scamming us? We investigate
Q: What is the historical context for dentistry, and how does it affect today's trust in dentists?
The guests discuss a progression from quack practices and barber-surgeons to germ theory and anesthesia, showing how trust has gradually built as science and regulation improved, but lingering cultural stereotypes persist.
Should the internet be a public utility?
Q: Does the situation in Brooklyn with only one option for internet qualify as a monopoly?
Yes, it is considered a monopoly because consumers have no alternative providers, leaving them essentially stuck with one.
