  • Worst audio producer ever

Impressively bad audio production, just here for Phil’s show, temporarily, thankfully. Compression not used right or at all. Lows are un-hearable, the highs blow your ears off. Constantly fluctuating audio in general, and the de-Esser not used at all. The sam Purcell segment was so hissy on the s and the t’s. It’s a bold business move to let this chucklehead continue producing. Seen better tafe students do basic audio.

  • Boring drive show

It would be nice if the drive segment would concentrate on car reviews & the latest releases other than almost an entire show taken up with trivial pothole and road issues. I wasted an hour of my life last night listening to dribble.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

"Eyes on the Skies": The Invisible Drone Threat Exposed Over Australian Crowds
Q: How does the monitoring network actually work to detect drones in and around critical infrastructure?
The system monitors radio waves used by drones, can establish a geofence, and alerts security teams when a drone approaches protected areas, enabling a targeted response.
"It’s Not Noise, It’s Conversation": The 2026 National Bird Rankings Revealed
Q: What can listeners do to get to know the birds in their own backyards better?
Listeners can start by providing water, such as a bird bath, placing water and nesting-friendly resources in accessible spots, and tailoring these provisions to the specific species they see in their area, like magpies or fairy wrens, while being mindful of nesting seasons and predators.
The World of Television with Rob McKnight - 19 May 2026
Q: Why is there hesitation about reviewing the Star Wars movie given the embargo?
Rob explains that embargo timing restricts spoilery discussion but overall impressions will be shared once the embargo lifts, while highlighting that the film is cinematic and appealing to both veterans and new audiences.
Jacaranda Financial Planning - 19 May 2026
Q: Hi. Good evening, gentlemen. I'm ringing up for an elderly relative in her 80s. She sold it for $750,000. Centrelink says it's worth $950,000 and they treat a repayment to her daughter as a gift. What can be done about this?
The adviser explains that the market value should reflect an arm's-length sale, so $750,000 is more appropriate than $950,000. They suggest documenting the sale at market value, clarify the 24-month downsizing exemption, and consider formal loan agreements to avoid misconstrued gifts; contact Centrelink and possibly involve a Financial Information Service Officer for guidance.
FULL SHOW | Nights with John Stanley - 6 May 2026
Q: Is the budget likely to include changes to capital gains tax or negative gearing?
There is ongoing discussion and leaking about potential changes, with some sources suggesting changes to CGT discounts, while others say the government may insist there will be changes and others say there may be a wait until elections; nothing is confirmed yet.
