  • Great coverage by 250 anniversary

I’ve always liked this show and Newt’s long form discussion format. I think he’s really outdone himself in his coverage of our 250th birthday. The guest’s he had on the show and the topics have been excellent, and, frankly, I’ve not found as good content in any competing shows.

  • META / GOOG atrocity

I love these podcasts - except the recent one with the trial lawyers who shook down tech on the social media case ruined it. Silly case … no way to prove that social media caused the girl’s issues / absolved parents for responsibility / cherry picked documents from defendant … put on display everything that is wrong with the American left and Newt was a sycophant.

Absolutely a top podcast. I treasure my time on this podcast. So varied with political updates, behind the seen info, how our government works, and the most interesting and fun part is the history of the amazing individuals we never learned about in school.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 1012: Inside the Ukraine War – Drones, Diplomacy, and the Risk of Escalation
Q: From your standpoint, what does cost asymmetry do to how this war gets fought and how the next one might be fought?
Drones introduce a cost-effective offensive capability that changes procurement, targeting, and the tempo of operations, while also pressuring traditional platforms; the result is a shift in tactics and strategy that may favor quicker, more precise strikes but also raises the risk of prolonged escalation if both sides push technological advances without a clear diplomatic exit.
Episode 1008: Trump's Superpower The Founders Return
Q: Did this pop in your head one morning, or how did it evolve?
The idea grew from observing the National Archives, the 250th anniversary, and Trump's repeated references to the founding, which together shaped the concept that led to the book's premise.
Episode 1009: Glory, Grief, and the Gavel The Most Dramatic Speaker's Race in a Century
Q: Can you put that in context?
The guest explains that the early confidence in the speakership was built on a narrow majority and a strategic plan, but the debt and budget fights exposed fault lines; the initial success masked the fragility of the coalition, which ultimately unraveled as competing demands and personalities clashed.
Episode 1003: America 250 – The Future of NASA and Space Travel with Jared Isaacman
Q: Why is NASA choosing to work with private companies for lunar landers rather than building everything in-house?
Leveraging private industry allows NASA to focus on harder scientific and exploration challenges while the private sector drives down costs through competition and scale, enabling more frequent launches and a broader space economy.
Episode 1003: America 250 – The Future of NASA and Space Travel with Jared Isaacman
Q: From your standpoint, what makes this particular crew and mission so important?
The Artemis III crew is seen as a crucial link in a multi-launch campaign that will test interoperability of landers and rovers and pave the way for a sustained lunar presence and eventual missions to Mars and beyond.
