1980年代的臺灣，經濟曲線急速攀升。但在數據背後，卻是一層又一層血汗的礦塵與鋼鐵。
〈礦坑裡的黑靈魂〉，在幽暗中掙扎求生；〈血肉築成的拆船王國〉則是則是一首由高溫、焊接、爆破和傷痕組成的殘酷進行曲。
他們是看不見的建築者——以血肉築起臺灣的現代化。
從礦坑到拆船場，共同呈現了八〇年代勞工的處境，如今，當談到外籍移工、臨時工，其實處境並沒有差太多——只是礦坑換成了工地、工廠或遠洋漁船。當我們回看1980年代的勞動現場，是否有更多的省思。

1986年11月，海外流亡多年的許信良試圖返鄉，群眾集結迎接，卻與鎮暴警察在鐵絲網前對峙。水柱、催淚瓦斯、粉紅色的標記水，甚至「民主香腸」的香味，都成為這場歷史事件的記憶。
這是一個象徵性的轉折點：政治犯不再只是個人的命運，而是整個社會自由的指標。
