  • Good guy Better music podcast

Brian is a very charismatic host. Very knowledgeable about music. There are very few bands that I mention to him that he doesn’t already know, at least, to some degree.

His interviews are always interesting. And it’s fun to see where the mixtape will go.

No matter what genre of music you like there is an episode for you.

This show is a ton of fun and brings back the memories of making mixtapes back in the day

Inside The Strike’s “Getaway”: Synths, Sax, and What Really Matters
Q: Can you describe the collaboration with Mitchell Tenpenny on the deluxe Getaway and what it signaled about the band's direction?
It signaled a willingness to explore cross-genre collaboration, adding country elements while maintaining the 80s-inspired pop core, which broadened our audience and showed our flexibility in production and arrangement.
Inside The Strike’s “Getaway”: Synths, Sax, and What Really Matters
Q: How did the saxophone become a signature element of The Strike's sound?
The saxophone emerged from our live cover-band days where audiences reacted strongly to that texture; it felt natural to bring that energy into original songs, and once listeners responded positively, we leaned into it as a defining sonic texture.
Inside The Strike’s “Getaway”: Synths, Sax, and What Really Matters
Q: What does the word mixtape mean to you, given your 80s influences and modern pop direction?
To me, a mixtape is a curated collection that blends personal memories with music choices, a bridge between era-influenced textures and today's sound, and it's about sharing songs that feel true to who we are as a band and artists.
Let’s Get Weird: Jon “Bermuda”Schwartz on 45+ Years Behind the Kit For “Weird Al” Yankovic
Q: How did Bermuda Schwartz get involved with Weird Al Yankovic, and what was the moment that defined that partnership?
It started with a chance meeting on the Dr. Demento show; Bermuda expressed interest in joining as a drummer after meeting Al, and they began working together that night, setting the stage for a decades-long collaboration.
Warren Haynes Revisits Tales of Ordinary Madness: Lost Songs, New Mixes & the Stories Behind The Album
Q: Can you talk about what that performance at Bonnaroo meant to you?
It felt good to perform tired; sometimes those situations lead to great performances.
