Poker Face is a stylishly cool, beautifully filmed, fresh-yet-nostalgic throwback to detective series of yore like Columbo and The Rockford Files, featuring the fabulous Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cade, a woman on the run, solving murder mysteries with her uncanny ability to tell when you (yes you) are lying. i really enjoyed first season of this podcast.. however, the quality plummeted. Instead of analyzing the (excellent) episodes of Season 2, it is now boring conversation, patronizing explanation of basic things like second wave feminism and A LOT of throat clearing and moralizing.. it has become impossible to listen to sadly.
Update: now that we’re 10 episodes in on Poker Face, I’m really enjoying the pod. I like the rotating hosts, voicemails, and all your insights and discussion. Thank you.
These 3 just don’t work together. It’s like one sophisticated highly skilled person with a professional mic is talking with her 2 older aunties with terrible mics. Can we get this lady a better situation?
Kept hearing from my Columbo pods that Poker Face is similar. On episode 3 and really enjoying it. The hosts are great—love everything about it. Thank you!
Before this podcast, I was living in a cardboard box off of the expressway. Now, thanks to these lovely people, I’ve turned my life around, got a job as the president of a software company, drive a Cadillac, and live in a detached house. I love these people.
