  • Outstanding

This is an outstanding podcast. I grew up in a home with a father who went to seminary in the late 60’s early 70’s. I grew up on Fosdick’s theology!! Praise God I left that theology and found the truth in Christ. This podcast is helping me connect the dots between the liberal theology I grew up with and Christianity.

I’m blown away by the high production value of this Christian podcast! From the intro music to the sound editing, everything is sharp and perfectly presented. I’m also impressed by the guests brought on the show and the interviews that ensue. I hope this keeps going on for a long long time.

  • The Christianity and Liberalism series is remarkable

This is well produced and has some deeply insightful perspectives applying one of the most important books of the last century to this century where the subissues are different but not the core issue. You can have Christianity or (theological) Liberalism but not both.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Prayer, Gratitude, and the Christian Life w/ Dr. Greg Parker Jr.
Q: Why translate Magnalia Dei now, and how does the new edition differ from the first edition?
The translation aims to make Bavinck accessible to contemporary readers while preserving Dutch terms; the second edition updates translation choices, reduces redactions, and clarifies the text to better reflect Bavinck's intended meaning for modern readers.
Prayer, Gratitude, and the Christian Life w/ Dr. Greg Parker Jr.
Q: What distinguishes Kuyper's Heidelberg Catechism commentary from his other works, and why is this pastoral orientation important?
Kuyper's Heidelberg Catechism commentary emphasizes accessibility and pastoral care, aiming to explain complex theology to the everyday reader and connect theological ideas with practical living and gratitude.
Prayer, Gratitude, and the Christian Life w/ Dr. Greg Parker Jr.
Q: Can you tell me a little bit about your paper and the themes of Ascent and Descent and Abraham Kuyper's Exposition of the Lord's Prayer?
The paper explores how Kuyper moves between ascent and descent, using mountaineering imagery to show Christ's humanity and humanity's finitude, while also using these themes to discuss prayer and the Christian life as a lived, communal practice.
Has Science Made God Unnecessary? w/ Ransom Poythress
Q: What three things does science fundamentally require, and why are these significant in arguing for a Christian understanding of science?
Science requires a world, a mind, and laws; the guest explains how these necessities point to a designed order that aligns with Christian theology, contrasting secular explanations that fail to fully account for these foundations.
Has Science Made God Unnecessary? w/ Ransom Poythress
Q: I want to get to your book Has Science Made God Unnecessary? Could you unpack the core premise for our listeners?
The book argues that science rests on Christian presuppositions and that secular science often overlooks the deeper philosophical and theological questions behind why science works, offering a broader, constructive vision for science when viewed through a Christian lens.
